Privacy policy
FlashLock is built to keep your data on your iPhone. This page explains what the app does and does not collect.
The short version
- No account or sign-in.
- No analytics, no ads, no tracking. FlashLock does not use the advertising identifier and does not show a tracking prompt.
- Your flashcards, decks, limits, stats and plan answers stay on your device.
What is stored on your device
Your decks, cards, daily limits, usage stats and your answers during onboarding (what you are studying for, your daily limit and cards-a-day goal) are stored only on your iPhone, in the app's local database and settings. We do not upload them and we cannot see them.
Screen Time
You choose apps with Apple's Screen Time app picker. FlashLock receives only opaque tokens from Apple. It cannot see the names of the apps you picked or what you do in them. Usage measurement and locking are handled by Apple on your device.
Purchases and RevenueCat
Subscriptions are processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat, a third-party subscription service, to check whether your subscription is active. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID, purchase and receipt information, device, OS and app version, and your country and currency. We do not give RevenueCat your name, email or any of your flashcard content. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
Notifications
FlashLock uses local notifications only: a reminder a day before your free trial ends, and a notification when an app locks so you can open FlashLock. They are created on your device. We run no push notification server.
Diagnostics
The app writes short technical messages to Apple's on-device system log to help troubleshoot Screen Time. We have no access to this log, and it is never sent to us.
Children
FlashLock is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. The app collects no personal data from anyone.
Deleting your data
Delete the app to remove everything stored on your device. Subscription records held by RevenueCat can be deleted on request: email us.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or the CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export personal data, to object to or restrict its use, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We hold very little: the only data about you is the anonymous subscription record described above. To make a request, email us.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date.
